Switzerland tops the overall list of the U.S. News Best Countries ranking for the second consecutive year and for the sixth time since the start of the project.
The country ranks first in the subcategory Openness for Business, which is factored into calculating the overall ranking. It is also among the top 10 countries in the categories Quality of Life, Entrepreneurship, Cultural Influence, and Social Purpose.
In the U.S. News & World Report article published along with the release of this year’s rankings, Jacques Pitteloud, Swiss Ambassador to the United States, says, “People love our country without always knowing why. What people love about us is our reliability and our predictability. I think the secret sauce starts with the high quality of education. We are one of the leading nations in many fields. We are constantly leading the pack in terms of innovation.”
