MSC Cruises and its luxury sister brand Explora Journeys have formally inaugurated their new North American headquarters in Miami, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on the U.S. market. The opening represents a significant step in MSC Group’s regional expansion and long-term investment in North America.
The celebration took place on Monday, January 26, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by a wide range of local and international guests, including Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, City Commissioner Christine King, the Consul General of Switzerland, Rolf Ott, and Honorary Consul René Riedi. The event also drew many attendees from the public and private sectors, highlighting the importance of the milestone for the city of Miami.
Located near downtown, the newly renovated 130,000-square-foot headquarters is designed to house at least 400 employees. Teams from MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys will work alongside colleagues from CTL Maritime, the group’s port infrastructure development arm, and MSC’s cargo shipping division. Bringing these business units together in one location is expected to enhance collaboration, operational alignment and efficiency, while placing the company in close proximity to PortMiami, one of the world’s leading cruise and cargo ports.
Speaking at the event, MSC Group Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, who traveled from Geneva, Switzerland, described Miami as a “strategic location” for the company’s global operations. “This is not just the cruise capital of the world,” Vago said. “It is a global crossroads for talent, infrastructure and international commerce.”
Rubén Rodríguez, CEO of MSC Group’s North American cruise division, emphasized that the new headquarters reflects MSC’s confidence in the cruise industry’s strong post-pandemic recovery. He noted that 2025 was the most successful year in the industry’s history and underlined that the company is “investing heavily in North America.” Rodríguez also explained that MSC is moving toward a four-day in-office workweek, with the new headquarters designed to support closer collaboration and innovation through in-person engagement.
