The annually recurring Swiss Design Accelerator introduces selected Swiss-based designers to the U.S. market with a focus on the Bay Area and its design industry. The latest edition of this program took place from November 7-13, 2022 and helped to build meaningful connections between relevant industry players. Creating growth opportunities for Swiss and U.S. partners, the program offers participants the chance to acquire skills helping them to better operate in this specific ecosystem.
The three selected design studios to participate in the 2022 edition of the Swiss Design Accelerator were Mikafi, YVY, and Paula Cermeño. Their drive for innovation and focus on sustainable design found particular interest among the local audience, including members of the San Francisco design industry, and fostered interesting connections in support of common objectives (from validating a market to meeting existing contacts or creating bridges to new stakeholders).
In this framework, Swissnex in San Francisco hosted a public event on November 9, 2022. Organized in collaboration with the Swiss Confederation’s cultural promotion institution Pro Helvetia, this event highlighted the designers’ stay in the Bay Area and gave them the opportunity to connect with a targeted audience, apply the skills acquired during the program, and get feedback from local players in the design industry.
