On July 11, 2026, Switzerland’s final World Cup match against Argentina did not end the way we had wished, but it was a night none of us will forget.
We gathered at Hudson Grille in Sandy Springs, just outside Atlanta, to watch the game. The sports bar was the perfect place for such a thrilling match, with many screens and an atmosphere that grew more intense with every minute.
The Swiss corner was easy to spot, decorated in red and white with flags, lights, and even Swiss music. Some came dressed in red, proudly showing their support for the national team. We also brought along Swiss caps, which quickly became a hit, not only among Swiss fans, but even more so among everyone else in the bar who wanted to join the celebration and cheer on Switzerland.
We had an information table set up as well, and it turned out to be a wonderful opportunity to connect with people who were curious about our country. Many stopped by to chat and pick up tourism brochures. The Swiss cowbells were just as popular, filling the bar with their unmistakable sound every time Switzerland created a chance during the game.
Consul General Rolf Ott attended the event alongside the Consulate staff and members of the Swiss Club of Atlanta. The evening brought together Swiss supporters from across the Southeast, with some fans even traveling from South Carolina to join the celebration. We supported our National Team all the way to the final whistle.
