On December 2, the Art of Diplomacy event took place in Miami Beach. Set in a vibrant and welcoming environment, the evening brought together art, culture, and international exchange. Organized by the Miami Beach Sister Cities Committee and co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta, the event offered an opportunity for networking and celebrated the longstanding relationship between the cities of Miami Beach and Basel during Art Basel Miami 2025. The program opened with remarks from Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Swiss Consul General in Atlanta Urs Brönnimann, and Maike Cruse, Director of Art Basel, Basel.
During the event, the City of Miami Beach officially proclaimed December 2, 2025, as “Consul General Urs Brönnimann Day”, in recognition of his dedicated diplomatic service and his contributions to strengthening cultural, economic, and people-to-people ties between Switzerland and Miami Beach.
On the art side of the event, selected works from the Swiss Heidi Goes AI exhibition were on display, offering a perspective on contemporary art. The exhibition highlighted the ways artists are engaging with artificial intelligence, presenting AI-generated works by Swiss and U.S. artists chosen through an open call. The pieces brought a distinctive Swiss cultural presence to the event and were warmly received by attendees. Swiss artist Selma Alihodžić also attended the event, presenting two works from her Phantom Ornament exhibition, which had been showcased at Alcova Miami during Art Week.
Special thanks are extended to Mayor Steven Meiner, the Miami Beach Commissioners, and Blanca Villarello, who manages the Sister City Agreement with Basel through the Miami Beach Sister City Committee.
